Jamie Owens-Collins is an American musician and songwriter. She is the writer of the song "The Battle Belongs to the Lord".

Biography and career[]

Owens is the daughter of Jimmy and Carol Owens. She was raised in Oakland, California, where her parents wrote and staged Christian musicals. Owens began performing as a teenager on several of her parents' albums, which brought her to prominence among the Jesus Music Movement.

In 1973, Owens released her first album, Laughter in Your Soul, which became the best-selling Christian music album in Britain in 1975. She released a second album in 1975 titled Growing Pains. Around that time, she married Christian music executive Dan Collins, and donned his last name.
